Mara bio.jpgMy name is Mara Lamanna. I am a nationally board certified Health and Nutrition Counselor. Working from a whole-person perspective, my passion is to help my clients to access their optimal health and wellness, and experience meaningful breakthroughs in their lives on all levels.

The majority of health complaints and ailments that we commonly experience today are due to living with IMBALANCE. This is largely a result of imbalance-causing diet and lifestyle practices. 

These practices may be due to lacking or misguided education, and often result in fatigue, blood sugar imbalances, emotional imbalances, lack of cellular nutrition and compromised intestinal integrity.

I love assisting my clients in attaining lasting BALANCE in these areas. As the body regains its intelligence and integrity, and discovers a new-found optimal state of balance and nourishment, a profound practice automatically unfolds. It is such a joy to experience. I call this practice INTUITIVE EATING. As my clients find that they are intuitively eating foods that provide them with a sense of vitality and optimal well-being… they create a profound sense of balance, harmony and peace previously unattainable..and seemingly effortlessly!

Making fun, delicious and feel-good dietary and lifestyle changes WILL powerfully change the way you feel and INSPIRE you to feel and look your best as you begin to see the results of coming into BALANCE. 

I am profoundly honored to be a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC, which is affiliated with Columbia University, and accredited by the AADP, American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I work closely with each client's individual needs, in support of their total wellness. The Institute for Integrative Nutrition is the only holistic nutrition school in the world integrating all different dietary theories, from the ancient traditions of Ayurveda, Macrobiotics and Chinese medicine to the most current concepts like raw foods, Atkins diet, blood type diets, the Zone and the USDA Healthy Eating Pyramid. My education exposed me to direct training and education with renowned speakers, book authors, physicians, professionals and educators such as Dr. Andrew Weill, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Sally Fallon, Paul Pitchford, Dr. Christiane Northrop, Dr. Barry Sears, and many more.

As a Health and Nutrition Counselor working from a holistic or whole-person perspective, I offer assistance in creating profound nourishment and well-being in each area of a person's life including nutrition, exercise, relationships, career, home-life, and in deepening spiritual connections. These life areas, when nurtured and strengthened, enrich a person’s life with meaningful senses of integrity, balance and nourishment. While certain foods and eating practices can be used as “tools” in the process of accessing optimal health, vitality and balance, true nourishment is available on much deeper levels, ultimately assisting in the shaping of one’s food choices. My constant aim is to engage my clients in an empowering conversation about food, the planet, and their lives. I encourage each person to take a deeper look and inquire into how they, as natural beings can attain balance on all levels and, while embracing the rhythms of nature through food and lifestyle choices, can thus align with the earth’s natural rhythms, thereby enhancing their health and vitality, and ultimately their living experiences as a whole.

Working from a non-restrictive standpoint, I assist my clients in deconstructing their food and lifestyle cravings, while providing them with a sense of empowerment, without deprivation. Gentle food and lifestyle recommendations can easily be incorporated into a person's daily lifestyle, thus allowing unhealthy cravings to naturally disappear, without the experience of deprivation or guilt. I feel it is imperative to assist each person in the shaping of positive, reinforcing thoughts through their process.

Each person is an individual. Each person has individual food needs, which will change with the seasons as well as with their life processes. Every person can develop a long-term sustainable way of healthy eating, one which can truly provide the experience of “living" in a whole new way.

While much of the content of my recommendations, coaching, guidance and information that I provide is specific to each person’s individual processes, much general information, specific only to the rhythms of nature and humanity, is shared in the group settings.
